Stranger Things focus on the events related with little Will Byers. The series is set on the year 1983 and its first scene shows Will and his friend playing a rol game in a typical middle-class neighborhood. The time goes by and kids must return to their homes, but one of them is not going to make it.

One of the interesting facts about this episode is the clear connection with Steven Spielberg's E.T., the famous and well-known science fiction movie. If you look closely, you will realize that the first vertical camera pan is exactly the same as the one in the movie. Besides, the first contact with a creature from another world is pretty much similar in both the series and the movie.

Second fact: did you notice which is the movie that Steve wants to watch at the cinema? You're right, it's Poltergeist. It's one of the most famous terror films from the 80's and both the series and Poltergeist include a family named "Wheeler".

Episode soundtrack: the music of this episode is perfectly related to the era in which the events occurs. We can name "I Shall Not Care" (played at Benny's place), "White Rabbit" (you can listen to it on the car radio) and "Africa" (Nancy and Steve's scene) by the famous band Toto.

We can affirm this episode is excellent. The 80's aestethetics is recreated smoothly, we find all kind of characters (some of them really sweet) and the plot is intriguing, original and captivating. How could we not be full of joy when Winona Ryder plays Joyce Byers character?
